United States’ Export-Import Bank approved a loan of US$ 281 million to Ethiopian Airlines Group, which would be used to finance the import of several Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircrafts
The United States Export-Import Bank approved a loan of US$ 281 million to Ethiopian Airlines Group, which would be used to finance the import of several Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. These aircrafts will be fully imported by the end of March 2023. The Board of Directors of the EXIM Bank of US approved the loan unanimously.
The airline aims to double its fleet by increasing its number of aircraft to 271. By 2035, the airline wants to increase its destinations to 207. The current Ethiopian Airlines’ fleet includes Airbus A350, Boeing 787-8, Boeing 787-9, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-200, Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-8, Freighter, and Bombardier Dash 8-400 double cabin with an average fleet age of seven years.

As reported by www.trendsnafrica.com yesterday, the inquiry committee which looked into the crash of Boeing aircraft at Addis Ababa’s Bole airport submitted its final report, which found that the mechanical problems of the newly acquired aircraft were responsible for the crash. The unfortunate incident killed 157 people from 35 countries including the crew members.
