In an innovative move, M-Pesa platform has introduced auto-generation of invoices, payment reminders and issue of e-receipts to customers on behalf of businesses .This free service, will benefit businesses with repeat transactions like schools, utility providers etc. Safaricom said that the service will be offered to all businesses with Lipa Na M-Pesa pay bills such as schools, landlords and utility firms, helping to manage bills payment cycle. The new facility provides M-Pesa customers a single point to review all outstanding bills, receive reminders, make payments and leave evidence for .
Mr.Ndegwa, the CEo of Safaricom said that millions of M-Pesa customers will benefit from better record keeping. The generation of digital receipts for each payment will empower both businesses and customers. Customers who have opted for the service will instantly receive SMS reminder when a new bill is generated or when the bill is due.
With the new service of Safaricom, Schools will be able to customise different type of fees such as tuition, lunch and transport and send reminders to parents.Similarly,Utility providers such as water, electricity and internet providers can automatically bill their customers.
