The prime ministers of the two rival governments of Libya were in Istanbul, Turkey, according to some media reports. However, the reports did not say whether the two leaders would meet each other.
Libya is torn between the administration of Fathi Bashagha, who was selected by the House of Representatives to lead the country as interim premier last February, and that of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who refuses to relinquish power and remains recognized as the country’s leader by the international community.
The report stated that the two are currently in Turkey, a country to which the two rivals have strong connections. However, the report did not clarify whether Dbeibeh and Bashagha will meet each other there or if will they hold separate talks with Turkish officials.

The report also indicated that Khaled Al-Mishri, the chairman of Libya’s High Council of State, is also currently in the Turkish metropolis. Al-Mishri’s trip to Turkey comes just a few days after he held one-on-one talks with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, in Morocco. Al-Mishri and Saleh agreed to form a unified government before next year, which Dbeibeh rejected.
