On growing demand, Kenya Airways (KQ) has resumed its daily flights to New York. Now flyers can travel in this route 7 days per week which was earlier scheduled for 3 days per week. The company was planning to increase the frequency by June in 2023 only where the high passenger bookings made it to implement the decision much early now.

The direct flight service from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to New York’s JF Kennedy International Airport was launched in October 2018 by the airlines.Though it played a crucial role in staving off the company’s bankruptcy, the covid 19 restrictions led them to misfortune in the year of 2020. The airline was struggling to pull through where it had to reduce the frequency of flights in this route to even weekly once in the post covid period of 2021.

The recent higher demand in this prestige route is a positive signal for the tourism sector as well as industrial economy of major African countries as the flight connects travelers who transit through JKIA from other African capitals that lack direct access to the world’s largest

economy.
