Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met with his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto in Nairobi and discussed. among other things, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing crisis in Sudan.

Kishida reiterated his nation’s desire to strengthen trade relations with Kenya to help contribute to the region’s stability. The visit of the Japanese premier comes just before the G-7 meeting to be held at Hiroshima.

Fumio Kishida assured that the issues concerning the African region would get reflected in the discussions at the G-7 meeting. He also underscored the importance of forging close economic ties with Kenya for gains in bilateral economic cooperation and stability in the whole region. Importantly, the Japanese premier earlier visited Egypt and Ghana.
