Strange things happen in Guinea, particularly during the election time. Self-proclamation of election result by the candidate himself  is the latest being reported.  Guinea’s opposition leader Cellou Dalein Diallo  self-proclaimed his victory in the first round of the presidential vote. Buoyed by the overwhelming joy,  thousands of his supporters  thronged the streets of the capital city Conakry to celebrate the “victory”.

The main opposition leader had announced his self-proclaimed victory at a press conference a day after the vote.  Diallo said he had emerged “victorious” despite “anomalies, which marred the ballot”. He called on fellow citizens to stay vigilant and committed to defend the democratic victory. Although there was no official confirmation to his victory from the election commission, rather the election watchdog saying his claim was void; it did not diminish the spirit of his supporters.

Supporters of Diallo said that people are enraged by the governance of the present incumbent  82-year old Alpha Conde and they are very sure about the victory of  Diallo, which will be officially announced soon.. But reports suggest that there tense moments in the city, when people can throng into streets from both sections of the groups to create violence.
