Eclipsed by Diet Coke, which stayed in the market since 1982, many industry analysts were predicting the discontinuance of the brand. TaB had its zenith days. In South Africa, TaB was popular for many years since it was caffeine free.
According to Coco Cola sources, TaB was an underperforming product. That is the reason for retiring it by the end of this year world-wide. Coco Cola sources admit that TaB was their precursor to diet brands. Diet Coke or Coke Zero Sugar is a clone of the TaB. The other brands that will be discontinued include US brands like Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Fiesty Cherry and Sprite Lymonade. World-over the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the supply chain and altered human behaviors. Experts feel that this could be one of the reasons hastened withdrawals of the Coco Cola brands.
