Egypt invests in sanitation and drinking water projects

·        Total investments in the drinking water and sanitation sectors in Damietta Governorate amounted to LE 816.5 million during 2020

·        In the drinking water sector, the development and
rehabilitation of Damietta and Kafr Soliman water stations have been completed, at LE 159 million

·         Replacement and renewal of drinking water networks for 31 projects worth LE 30 million were also completed

Total investments in the drinking water and sanitation sectors in Damietta Governorate amounted to LE 816.5 million during 2020, according to  Head of the Damietta Drinking Water and Sanitation Company, Mohamed Badawy Assal. For implementing the projects, the stakeholders involved were   the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, the Governor of Damietta, the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation, and the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation,.

In the drinking water sector, the development and rehabilitation of Damietta and Kafr Soliman water stations have been completed, at LE 159 million. Replacement and renewal of drinking water networks for 31 projects worth LE 30 million were also completed.

Mohamed Badawy Assal pointed out that  eight  projects have been implemented in the sanitation sector with a value of LE 419 million. That included Al-Ghawabeen – Saif Al-Din – Al-Lawzi – Al-Atwi – Al-Kashef – Al-Sawahel – Azab Al-Nahda – expansion of the Ras Al-Bar station.   Apart from sanitation projects with community participation, the projects implemented included the lifting stations and eviction lines with a total cost of LE 50 million.
