Egypt and India sign protocol to counter-terrorism

Egypt and India stressed the need for taking concerted action and global commitment to countering terrorism and radical rhetoric. At the third meeting of the India-Egypt Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism held in New Delhi, India recently, both countries agreed to up their joint effort to eliminate terrorism in the world.

The Egyptian delegation was headed by Minister Plenipotentiary Mohamed Fouad, Director of the Counter-Terrorism Unit at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Indian delegation was headed by Mahavir Singhvi, Director of the Counter-Terrorism Department at the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides stressed the need for taking concerted action against all the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) designated terrorist entities.

The two sides reviewed threats posed by terrorist groups globally and strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations including cross-border terrorism. They also agreed to further strengthen bilateral counter-terrorism collaboration, capacity-building efforts, exchanges of good practices, and information sharing.
