Elsewedy Data Centers of Egypt and the Emirati Gulf Data Hub have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Africa’s largest data center complex in Egypt. The MoU is expected to deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of information technology and digital infrastructure in the region.

The agreement aims at creating a $2.1 billion data centers hub. Towards this end, 3 world-class data center complexes in 3 different locations with a total storage capacity of 192 megawatts, and a total power load of 300 megawatts will be established in 5-7 years.

The MOU will also lead to collaboration between the data centers and all telecom operators and internet service providers in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The data centre will act as a connection point and a regional center for data through its connection to other data centers owned and operated by GDH in KSA, UAE, and the rest of their data centers globally.
