Egypt allocated USD 2.43 billion from the budget to the human development sector in the plan for FY2024/2025, according to a statement by Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat during her participation at a roundtable on population and human capital development in Egypt.
The international cooperation portfolio to support the human development sector amounts to about USD 7 billion, through concessional financing, technical support, grants, and debt swaps. The Minister pointed out that the Takaful and Karama program funded by the World Bank is being successfully implemented over 9 years with soft financing totaling USD 1.4 billion. The number of beneficiaries of the cash support provided within the framework of the program has reached 20 million Egyptian citizens.
Al-Mashat also touched on the comprehensive health insurance program, which is funded by several development partners, such as the World Bank, the Japanese side, and the French Development Agency, to improve the quality of health services provided to citizens. The number of beneficiaries of this important national program has reached 6 million citizens.

The Minister Al-Mashat added that human and social development accounts for 42% of government investments. The growth rate of the health and education sectors during the last fiscal year reached 5.6%, Al-Mashat added.
