In a significant development, the Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) said that it would not be financing any government sector in the 2022/23 fiscal year.
The bank will avail Birr 30 billion for approval and Birr 24 billion for disbursement which will be allocated to private investments which are involved in agriculture and industry and small and medium enterprises.

During the last fiscal year, the bank approved Birr 22 billion and disbursed Birr 11 billion. DBE has been making an annual profit of Birr 4 billion for investments in the past two years. According to the bank, customers are also showing satisfaction with its service delivery. The bank’s capital has also reached Birr 37 billion.
