Chinese company to manufacture city buses in Ethiopia

Yutong, the Chinese company that specialises in manufacturing conventional and new energy buses is set to set up a manufacturing facility in Ethiopia. Yotong and     Ethio Engineering Group (EEG) have signed an agreement to manufacture city buses under Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry.

Yutong, the Chinese company that specialises in manufacturing conventional and new energy buses is set to set up a manufacturing facility in Ethiopia.  The company has a global presence. Yotong and     Ethio Engineering Group (EEG) have signed an agreement to manufacture city buses under Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry. The agreement provides for the manufacturing of 40-seater buses with the capacity to transport 40 to 120 passengers.

Ethio-Engineering Group, Ethiopia’s Governmental business enterprise plays a key role in the development of heavy industries. Its main activities include manufacturing and trading automotive products, Agricultural machinery, Construction machinery, and so on. EEG was re-established in September 2020 under the FDRE Council of Ministers regulation.

Bishoftu Automotive Manufacturing Industry is an Ethiopian manufacturing and assembly center for defence products. It also produces Sheger and Anbessa buses, state-owned public transport services.
