France, being the host to the Paris Club, the French finance ministry plays a key role in the debt-relief discussions under the G20 framework. It is also co-chair with Saudi Arabia of Chad’s creditor committee.
The source revealed that active discussions over Zambia were underway. As for Ethiopia, the creditors are waiting to see progress in talks between Ethiopia and the International Monetary Fund before proceeding with action. Ghana was cited as an eligible case after its talks with IMF.
