AMD Gains Ground in South Africa’s GPU Market as Budget Buyers Drive Surge

South African PC hardware retailers report a sharp rise in demand for AMD graphics cards, especially in the mid-range and entry-level segments. While Nvidia continues to dominate the high-end GPU market with its RTX 5080 and above, AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series have captured growing interest thanks to strong price-to-performance value and positive global reception.

Retailers like Progenix note that AMD cards now account for more than half their GPU sales, citing better affordability and performance without the need for promotional bundles. Dreamware Tech observes near-equal demand for both brands in the mid-tier segment, with sales fluctuating based on pricing and availability.
