A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between TAQA Arabia and Tanzanian government to develop several gas delivery projects.
TAQA Arabia — a subsidiary of Qalaa Holdings, already has investments of more than $11m in Tanzania to build and manage 12 stations for supplying cars with compressed natural gas .It is also setting up centres to convert various types of cars to operate with natural gas in the city of Dar Al-Salaam and the surrounding areas. The conversion to natural gas is expected to save transportation costs by about 40% in gasoline-powered vehicles and about 22% for diesel-powered vehicles.
The latest MoU will enable transfer of expertise of TAQA Arabia in the fields of transportation and distribution of natural gas to Tanzania to further promote the use of natural gas as a clean source of energy. TAQA Arabia has more than25 years of experience in the field of gas transportation and distribution in African markets. Adly Kafafy, the Vice President of African Investments said that the company was able to provide the daily energy needs of 1.7m customers over the years.
