ZTE Corporation has successfully implemented its FTTR-B all-optical network solution in the office building of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), marking a technological milestone in Ethiopia’s national infrastructure.
In collaboration with Ethio telecom, Ethiopia’s state-owned operator, ZTE delivered a full-service package including network design, hardware provision, and implementation support. The GERD project, Africa’s largest hydropower initiative, is pivotal to Ethiopia’s national development and now features a modern, intelligent communications backbone.
Key Features of the Deployment:
- Comprehensive All-Optical Coverage: Using the FTTR-B gateway (ZXEN G100S) and 34 optical APs, the solution ensures gigabit fiber connectivity throughout the office.
- Integrated 3-in-1 Network: The system consolidates internet, voice, and surveillance into one network, reducing deployment costs by 25% and improving operational efficiency.
- Cloud-Based Management: The ZENIC ONE platform allows for smart maintenance with visualised topology, remote troubleshooting, and automated reporting, boosting efficiency by 30%.
- Enhanced Security: A portal-based authentication system separates employee and visitor access, reinforcing data security.
