The governments of Zimbabwe and Zambia are assessing the policy, legal and regulatory framework for the establishment of the agro-industrial park between the two countries. A memorandum of understanding was signed by both the countries last year for the establishment of the agro-industrial park. Both the governments are finalising the framework for the feasibility study among other issues.
The proposal is being supported by the United Nations Economic for Africa (UNECA), the Common Market for East and Southern Africa and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
The objective of the project is to boost the availability of industrial goods and services for the bilateral market and expand intra- regional trade in manufacturing. It is also expected to nurture entrepreneurship, develop management and skills and also foster networking among policy makers, regulators, industry and academia.
