Zambian Wood Industry Urges Government to Implement Value Addition Policy Across Value Chain

Woodworkers Association (CWA) of Zambia has urged the government to implement the value addition policy in the timber sector to promote rural industries

The Woodworkers Association (CWA) of Zambia has urged the government to implement the value addition policy in the timber sector to promote rural industries.

Association chairman Benson Musantu said that the government should come up with a deliberate policy that promotes import substitution.  He said that timber must be fully processed into finished wood products in the locality it is found.

Zambian Minister of Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu called on individuals and entities that want to apply for and acquire timber concession licenses to come on board. The ministry has since issued and circulated an advertisement in daily newspapers and other media platforms calling for applications.
