Zambia upping fertilizer production to close demand and supply gap

Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary of Zambia  Green Mbozi has disclosed that his government has awarded Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia-NCZ,  a contract to supply 47, 338 metric tonnes of D Compound fertilizer in the 2022-23 agricultural season

Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary of Zambia Green Mbozi has disclosed that his government has awarded Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia-NCZ,  a contract to supply 47, 338 metric tonnes of D Compound fertilizer in the 2022-23 agricultural season.

As a sequel to the contract, Mbozi said Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia will supply fertilizer to Copperbelt, Central, and Lusaka provinces in the upcoming season. Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia is a parastatal.  The Company does not bid for a tender to supply fertilizer.  The government can give the company an invitation to supply a quantity of fertilizer that it thinks the company has the capability to produce.

The Company carried out an assessment to know how much it can produce in the 2022-23 agricultural season and arrived at a figure of 47, 338 metric tonnes. That could meet the requirements for the season.
