National Action for Quality Education in Zambia-NAQUEZ has appealed to the government through the Ministry of Finance to allocate at least 20% of the 2023 national budget to the education sector.  NAQUEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa said the sector needs more money to improve the quality of education. The education sector needs more desks, books, and computers and more houses for teachers, he added.

NAQUUEZ urged the Ministry of Finance to ensure that 20% of the national budget is allocated to the education sector as has been the consensus reached in the SADC countries. Presently, the allocation is only 10.4% towards the education sector, which is insignificant, he flagged.
