Zambia to invest in agro -processing

  • To help promote value addition in the agriculture sector, four companies in Zambia  will invest US$12.6 million in establishing agro-processing plants in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zones (LSMFEZ).
  • These firms will be buying farm produce such as rice and soya beans from farmers and process it into edible oils, soya products and flour

 

To help promote value addition in the agriculture sector, four companies in Zambia  will invest US$12.6 million in establishing agro-processing plants in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zones (LSMFEZ).

These firms will be buying farm produce such as rice and soya beans from farmers and processing it into edible oils, soya products and flour. Queens Oil Refinery Limited, Good Nature Agro Limited, Aussie Company Limited and Sunglobe Holdings have all been given a green  signal to operate in the LSMFEZ.

Aussie Company wants to set up a US$550,000 flour milling plant and create 57 jobs for locals.
The investor is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of next year. Queens Oil Refinery plans to set up a US$1.6 million edible oil refinery plant expected to be operational soon.
