Zambia’s Minister of Information and Media, Chushi Kasanda said the government would not approve poorly constructed infrastructure initiated by the community since it would cause danger to the community.

Ms Kasanda said the government should not spend Constituency Development Fund (CDF) on such projects which did not meet the minimum standards. She told the stakeholders this while she was inspecting a dormitory at Mulungushi Secondary School, a community project, which was under construction. The local Authority, she pointed out,  had started sensitizing the public on the guidelines to be followed when constructing infrastructure.

The minister emphasized the need for residents to form co-operatives to take advantage of empowerment programs. Calling on the local authority to take up road development projects, she told the need for local councils to acquire equipment like a bulldozer, compactor, and water buzzer to help work on roads in the district.
