Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said that his government was targeting to build over 100 Chief’s palaces for the year 2023 while completing the palaces that are still under construction.
President Hichilema said that his government was committed to institutionalising the Chieftaincy and restoring decency for traditional leaders through the construction of suitable offices and residential areas for chiefs.
The over 100 palaces targeted to build or complete construction would have proper water supply, lighting using solar energy or other forms, office complexes , and meeting rooms. The President said the government was focusing on addressing community concerns including infrastructure development and other emerging issues that urgently need attention.

He emphasized that the government will ensure that all road constructions are done at the right price, right quality, and within the set framework and added that the government would give the construction to the local contractors. Constituency Development Fund(CDF) was meant to improve the livelihoods of the people, the president observed and directed the local administration to involve chiefs represented on the committee to ensure that the community’s views were heard.
