World Happiness Report-Africa’s performance

·       Within the continent, Mauritius, Libya and Ivory Coast are the leading countries maintaining the same position on the latest World Happiness Report released on International day of happiness.

The latest Annual World Happiness Report was published by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The parameters used in the ranking of happiness based on a three-year average from 2019-to 2021 included 6 indicators: GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and corruption. The rankings were based on the individuals’ own assessments of their lives. Finland, Denmark and Sweden continued their top 3 positions out of 146 surveyed countries.

Within the continent, Mauritius, Libya and Ivory Coast are the leading countries maintaining the same position on the latest World Happiness Report released on International day of happiness. The rankings of African countries out of the 146 surveyed are Mauritius (52 Libya(86) Ivory Coast(88) South Africa(91)  The Gambia(93) Algeria(96)  Liberia(97) The Congo(99) and Morocco(100).

The last three slots continued to be occupied by Botswana, Rwanda and Zimbabwe respectively ranking 142, 143 and 144.
