The governorate of Bizerte, Tunisia, announced that the operation to refloat the oil platform stranded on El Haouichat beach, under the jurisdiction of the Bizerte-North delegation, will be carried out during June.
The governorate specified that work to repair the technical damage caused to the platform is continuing, to meet all the conditions necessary for the smooth running of the operation. The refloating is scheduled for the second half of June. It will allow the crew to resume sailing to a Turkish port, while ensuring that the rights of the Tunisian state are preserved.

As a reminder, Tunisian rescue teams had already assisted a Turkish tugboat and its crew escorting an oil-drilling floating platform. The incident dates back to January 11, 2025, when a towing cable broke, causing the platform to run aground on one of the beaches of El Haouichat in the Bizerte governorate.
