837

Australian integrated engineering, project management and delivery group -Aurecon – decided to demerge the Africa business from the Aurecon Group. This follows a proposal from the African unit to be independent. The Group founded in 2009 came into being after merger of Australian firm Connell Wagner with two African based firms -Africon and Ninham Shand. It is believed that splitting away the Africa business will be beneficial to both business entities and provide greater financial security for both businesses.

Subject to regulatory approvals, the demerger will become effective from 1st January next year.  Aurecon currently employs 7,500 staff with around 70 offices in 26 countries.  It has offices in Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
