The water crisis of the Republic of Congo has impacted the lives of many. People are waking up early at 4 AM to fetch water to avoid crowding up at various water points. Women and children do not have access to drinking water from the tap at their convenience.
The city has experienced strong urban growth in recent decades. Yet it has to address water distribution. Some of the residents have opted to build private boreholes. Water taps are dry for seven months in a year. Also, the authorities have to ensure the water supplied conforms with standards laid down by WHO.
