Vodacom Lesotho has introduced SME Connect, a new suite of solutions aimed at empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lesotho. The official launch occurred in Maseru, demonstrating the company’s commitment to fostering economic growth and enhancing digital inclusion.
During the event, Vodacom Lesotho CEO Mohale Ralebitso emphasised their dedication to supporting SMEs. He stated, “We are proud to launch SME Connect, which reflects our strong commitment to Lesotho’s dynamic SME sector. Our objective is to provide businesses of all sizes with the digital tools they need to thrive, including accessible devices, online platforms, and secure, cashless transactions. We aim to digitise Lesotho’s economy for a prosperous future.”
Lisemelo Ramafikeng, Executive Head of Vodacom Business, noted the company’s role in facilitating SME growth. “We aspire to be a catalyst for expansion, helping SMEs transition into larger enterprises. Digital solutions are essential for unlocking their potential in today’s global market, where international investors seek local SMEs with robust digital capabilities.”
Lemphane L. from the Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO) highlighted the critical need for digitisation among SMEs, stating, “SMEs are vital to Lesotho’s economy, significantly impacting employment and growth. Digital adoption is crucial for competitiveness, efficiency, cost reduction, and enhancing customer experiences.”
Palesa Matobako, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Business Development, affirmed government support for the initiative, noting that “Vodacom’s SME Connect aligns with the government’s priorities for SME growth, reinforcing our joint commitment to integrating SMEs into Lesotho’s economic transformation.”

SME Connect offers two packages—Access Suite and Managed Access Suite—with features designed to tackle the challenges faced by SMEs in Lesotho, such as limited access to affordable business tools. By providing bundled services at lower rates, it makes enterprise-level solutions more accessible to a broader range of SMEs.
