The latest aid package of USD 230 million includes USD 200 million designated for humanitarian relief and USD 30 million to support Sudan’s transition back to democratic governance.

Sudan plunged into civil war in 2023 when clashes between the military and the paramilitary group, Rapid Support Force broke out. The conflict that began in Khartoum, gradually spread to Darfur and other areas. More than 29,000 people have reportedly perished in the ongoing Conflict Since April 15, 2023. Millions have been displaced in the war. Political observers have pointed out that Sudan has not received the international attention it deserves compared to wars in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The humanitarian crisis in the country is worsening with indiscriminate killings, sexual violence and famine deepening the crisis.
