UNSMIL Welcomes Release of Detainees in Libya

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomed the recent release of some detainees in Libya, including some referred to in its previous statement on arbitrary arrests across the country.

The mission reminded all actors of the need to abide by the law and be held accountable for any human rights violations.‎

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) welcomed the recent release of some detainees in Libya, including some referred to in its previous statement on arbitrary arrests across the country.

UNSMIL confirmed that hundreds of people remain arbitrarily detained across Libya and called for their immediate release.‎

‎The Mission said it was also concerned about reports of the enforced disappearance of Mr. Mohamed El Gamaty and urges the competent authorities to conduct a transparent investigation and reveal his whereabouts.
