The United Airlines’ new direct flight between Cape Town and New York/Newark will be a game changer for boosting two-way tourism and economic cooperation between South Africa and the US. According to some estimates, it has the potential to bring additional tourism spend of R153m for the Mother City (Cape Town) by 2021.
The Cape Town Air Access, a private-public partnership has secured the new route. Set up in 2015, the company has 16 new routes and 22 route expansions. It is estimated that the new route would help contribute   an additional R6bn in tourism spend to the Cape’s economy. The new route of United Airlines direct  flight  was introduced  in June as part of the campaign to boost two-way tourism, trade and investments.
