Zamzam is one of the areas in Sudan where famine has occurred. According to Dujarric, about 5,500 people were displaced over the past week and sought safety and shelter in the Shamal Jabal Marrah locality in Central Darfur.
The spokesperson for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric said that the humanitarian situation in Sudan remains extremely worrying and added that the impact of violence on civilians in and around the Zamzam displacement camp in Al Fasher should be condemned.
