After the UK retained Kenya on its travel ban list, the British tour operators have cancelled their holiday flights to Kenya. The latest update took effect in early August, coming days after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Britain.  Kenya was included in the ‘Red List’ amid concerns about the spike in new Covid-19 cases.  Travellers arriving in the UK from countries on the ‘Red List’ will be denied entry while returning UK nationals must undergo  10 days of mandatory quarantine in hotels.

The US has also issued a travel advisory against Kenya dealing a blow to the recovering tourism sector.

Tui Group, a leading holiday company said it had cancelled all holiday bookings to Kenya until September 4. The announcement is a severe setback to the Kenyan hospitality industry which is currently on its main tourism season that  peaks from July to September, coinciding with the country’s dry season and the world-renowned migration of wildebeest and zebra through Maasai Mara Game Reserve.
