Uganda Draws Up Scheme for Promoting MSMEs with EU Assistance

Entrepreneurs will benefit from industry news, event notifications, and a vast repository of downloadable learning resources tailored to enhance business knowledge and skills.

Uganda has taken a major step towards empowering its small business sector with the launch of the MSME Financing Gateway Platform.  This transformative initiative is aimed at driving the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

Launched by the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) in partnership with the International Trade Centre (ITC), the platform seeks to provide MSMEs with essential resources to foster success, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth. It is the second phase of the European Union (EU) – East African Community (EAC) Market Access Upgrade Programme (EU-EAC MARKUP II), which is funded by the EU.

By providing MSMEs access to critical resources, the platform is set to boost economic activity and contribute significantly to Uganda’s prosperity. This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in fostering sustainable economic growth through small businesses.

PSFU, Uganda’s leading private sector body, and ITC, a UN and World Trade Organization joint agency committed to supporting small businesses in developing countries, are leading the charge to ensure that MSMEs in Uganda have the tools they need to thrive in today’s competitive market.
