Uganda Airlines to fly to more destinations

Ugandan Airlines is preparing to add more destinations to fly including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China, the UK, Saudi Arabia and India.

Ugandan Airlines is preparing to add more destinations to fly including Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, China, the UK, Saudi Arabia and India. Currently, Ugandan Airlines operate only one international route: Dubai. It proposes to operate flights to London, Mumbai, Guangzhou and Riyadh.

The operations to London and Guangzhou is expected to start before the end of the 2022/2023 financial year.The airline will operate one flight per week to Guangzhou. However, it has to submit its route plan to China’s Civil Aviation Authority. Guangzhou is a major hub located in the Chinese Province of Guangdong and as per aviation figures, it was the world’s busiest airport by passenger traffic having handled 43.8 million passengers in 2020. The flights to China will target mainly the business community, students, diplomats and permanent residents from Uganda and also passengers from its ten destinations in Africa.

The airline is yet to get a permit to operate flights to London, even though it has secured a landing slot at the London Heathrow International Airport.
