The Mozambique government is evaluating proposals presented by port companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that expressed their intent to invest in the port of Nacala. Revealing this President Filipe Nyusi said that the Port of Nacala offered numerous advantages due to its unique characteristics and geographical advantage.

Revealing this, President Filipe  Nyusi said that the Port of Nacala offered numerous advantages due to its unique characteristics and geographical advantage.

Filipe Nyusi recently visited the UAE and had wide-ranging consultations with the political higher-ups in the country. The measures were announced by the president in the follow-up of his visit to the Middle East country.

The Port of Nacala is now undergoing total rehabilitation to modernise it.  A port with naturally deep water will be an attractive proposition for the movement of cargo. The Ministry of Transport and Communications is evaluating the proposal from the UAE since there are other proposals to invest in the port, necessitating an evaluation of each proposal based on their merits. He said that investors could do other things in the Nacala corridor relating to the port activity. There are also airlines from the UAE showing interest in operating in Mozambique, the president revealed
