As a follow up to the recent visit of President of Liberia George Weah to UAE ,a delegation from UAE visited Liberia to explore collaborations in the agriculture sector. The President’s visit to UAE was focussed on inviting UAE to invest in agriculture, specifically rice production to solve the domestic shortage within the country.
The President hosted the UAE delegation to discuss UAE’s participation in the production of Liberia’s staple food, rice. The target of the Government of Liberia is to become an exporter of rice from an importer now. Discussions for collaboration in the sector between the two countries had started way back in 2019 which was revived by the President’s visit to UAE. The UAE delegation will be visiting the Freeport of Monrovia and the Port of Buchannan as these ports will be the conduit for rice exports from Liberia.
