GAMA, a Turkish company, might carry out the expansion and restoration works of the Gulf Steam Station power plant in Sirte, Libya. Details of expansion work were discussed at a meeting in Tripoli between the chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company (GECOL), Muhammad Mashhai, and the representatives of the Turkish GAMA Company based in Tripoli, including the roadmap for the completion of the installation works. Execution of operational tests for the production units of the station may start soon.
The production capacity of the plant is 1,400 megawatts. The first unit of the company is currently in operation. Its generation capacity is 250 megawatts. The project was suspended in 2014 due to security conditions. Since then, the company has been in limbo.

Elkaber also met on the same day with his Jordanian counterpart Adel Ahmed Al-Sharkas to discuss “ways to enhance aspects of cooperation between the two central banks”.
