Turkish automotive supplier sets up manufacturing facility in Morocco

Turkish automotive supplier Martur Fompak International has set up an industrial plant in Tangier Automotive City, Morocco. The plant at an investment of more than $35.6 million (340 million dirhams) has the potential to create 1,150 jobs. The state of the art factory located near one of the biggest ports, Tanger Med will produce car interiors like blankets, headrests, armrests, etc and car seats. The factory will cater to the growing demands of global automotive manufacturers based in Morocco, particularly Renault.

Turkish manufacturer had already established its presence in the Tanger Automotive City with an initial investment of €17.5 million, in 2020.Apart from meeting the local needs, the new plant proposes to export to European markets by the close of the current year. Martur Fompak has an established global presence as a leading supplier of car parts. It has a presence in 40 countries with over 6,000 employees supplying to  over 200 clients including world-class car manufacturers.

According to the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade, since 2018, Morocco has maintained its position as the leading automaker in Africa. The sector continues to be at the top of the country’s exports. With 250 companies, the Moroccan automotive industry has an annual installed production capacity of 700,000 vehicles per year.
