Turkey and Uganda are proposing six new cooperation agreements covering various sectors such as military training to education by the end of the year, according to Turkey’s ambassador to Uganda. This was revealed by Kerem Alp, Turkish Ambassador to Uganda. He added that the proposed fields included cooperation in military training, judiciary, higher education, economic cooperation and the establishment of the Yunus Emre Institute.
The mutual legal assistance agreement in the judicial sector between Turkey and Uganda will cooperate in law enforcement and repatriate wanted criminals from each country. Cooperation in the higher education sector will see Turkey offering doctoral and post-doctoral scholarships for Ugandan students who want to study in Turkey over and above the scholarships currently offered to Ugandan undergraduates to study in Turkish universities.
Turkey’s state-run aid agency, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TÄ°KA), is also providing vocational training for ugandans to be trained plumbers, electricians, fashion designers etc.
