Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was in Ankara on a state visit to hold comprehensive discussions with Turkish leader Erdogan on enhancing economic and defence ties between the two countries.
The high level bilateral meet culminated in the signing of multiple accords and commitment to widen bilateral cooperation in trade, defence and other areas. The various sectors covered under the agreement included mining, environment, education, culture, and so on. Both the countries are also exploring cooperation in Tourism, agriculture, and security. Tebboune’s visit to Türkiye is the first presidential visit in 17 years since 2005 visit by the late Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Addressing a joint press conference, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan remarked that the two countries played an important role in ensuring peace and stability on the African continent, and intend to strengthen cooperation in defence .Algerian President Tebboune said that there existed potential for increasing the investment volume with Türkiye to $10 billion or more. Algeria he said is examining stepping up cooperation with Turkey especially in the civilian, military, and naval industries.
