The closure of Tunisian airspace and  banning of flights,  except for those deployed   for the repatriation of Tunisians stranded abroad, has given a desert look to once bustling Tunis-Carthage airport. Itlooks as an extension of the African desert. Dozens of aircraft aregrounded and no activity is visibly in sight except cleaning and dusting. The CEO of Tunisian airlines-Tunisair- said that the company urgently needs 100 million dinars to meet the company’s management expenses, including salaries. In the meantime, the airlines has tweaked theterms of acceptance of passengers from 22nd May 2020 to ensure that strict guidelines are followed as a precautionary measure against Covid-19.

The airline made it mandatory for all travelers to observe social distancing and wear masks. Passengers will be denied access to airports if they are not following the instructions. Also, temperature checking is made compulsory. There are also stipulations regarding number and size of cabin baggage. Separate stipulations are there  for passengers travelling to France. Restrictions on access to metropolitan France and overseas communities have been put in place. Every passenger must submit before boarding, a statement of honor that he/she has no symptoms of the Covid -19 infection.  Failing that, boarding the aircraft will be denied.
