Trump Tells OPEC to Reduce Oil Prices to End Russia-Ukraine Conflict

(3 Minutes Read)

Earlier, Trump had a conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. According to Saudi Arabia’s State-owned media, Bin Salman is committed to investing up to USD 600 billion in the United States over the next four years. Trump indicated that he would request the Crown Prince to increase that figure to approximately USD 1 trillion.

President Donald Trump announced his intention to urge the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, along with its primary member, Saudi Arabia, to lower crude oil prices during his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, yesterday (Thursday). The meeting was held online.

If the oil price came down, the Russia-Ukraine war would end immediately. Right now, the price is high enough that the war would continue to cash in on higher oil prices. Once the prices come down, the war would end, he added. However, Trump did not elaborate further on the dynamics of oil prices and how they can lead to ending the conflict.
