Launching the Africa Desk, ACC’s President and CMD of the KCP Limited Dr. V L Indira Dutt said that it was a great moment for the Chamber to create a special desk on Africa to enable and equip Chamber’s members to scout for opportunities in the African landscape

Andhra Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Chennai, India has entered into an arrangement with www.trendsnafrica.com and Africa4U to create a special desk on Africa and run it to give focused attention to African business-related matters and to guide the members in making strong footprints in the African economic space.

Launching the Africa Desk, ACC’s President and CMD of the KCP Limited Dr. V L Indira Dutt said; “it was a great moment for Chamber to create a special desk on Africa for enabling and equipping Chamber’s members to scout  for opportunities in the African landscape.” She added that the desk with the help of experts from www.trendsnafrica.com and Africa4U would endeavor to create pathways for members and others to do seamless businesses and investments in the continent. She further said that Africa provided a huge market with over 1.3 billion people spread over 55 countries and having close to USD 3.1 trillion combined GDP would be a future destination for global businesses.

Andhra Chamber is 95-year old and has a strong presence in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. www.trendsnafrica.com is a 24/7 portal servicing huge number of businesses across the world.its sister concern Africa4U is a fortnightly digital platform, that disseminates Africa-focused information to over 150,000 global businesses. The tie-up with www.trendsnafrica.com and its sister concern, Africa4U, will enable the chamber members to access information on business opportunities in 55 countries in Africa on a real-time basis.

“That will be an added service ACC will be providing to our members and others at a time when the vast African continent is fast emerging as a powerful business hub for trade, investment, and technology transfer;” says R R Padmanabhan, Honorary Advisor,ACC, who played an important role in setting up the Desk and making it functional.

The launch event held on 24th January in a hybrid mode had the participation of its members and others from all across India. On behalf of www.trendsnafrica.com and Africa4U, Sheila Sudhakaran, editor of both digital platforms said; “We are excited about the association with the ACC and shall endeavor to service the Chamber members acting as an information superhighway and unfolding before them the limitless business opportunities in Africa on a daily and reader-friendly manner.  In her presentation, she touched upon various services that both digital platforms provide including business opportunities collated and curated daily from multilateral sources like the African Development Bank and the World Bank.

Baiju Kumar, Trade Commissioner of Zimbabwe in Kerala outlined the limitless opportunities for investment, trade, and joint ventures between India and Africa in areas like mining, agriculture and food processing, the ICT sector, and a host of sectors. “What we have to focus is on sensitization of these opportunities to the right target group, and the Trendsnafrica&Africa4U and ACC tie-up will provide an impetus to the dissemination of such vital information;” he said, adding that he would make use of his good offices to lend every possible support to the Africa Desk.

Raghini Peter, Secretary General, ACC said that some Chamber members have been engaged in doing business in Africa already in countries like Ghana and hoped that with the setting up of the special Desk on Africa, more members would become stakeholders in Africa enhancing India’s engagements with the continent.
