The state-owned Transtev group has revealed plans to enhance and modernize public transport services in Algeria. Key initiatives involve the introduction of new metro, tramway, and cable transport lines in the capital and various wilayas across the country.
During an appearance on Chaîne 3’s L’invité du jour program, Transtev CEO Rachid Ouzane announced the establishment of four new gondola lines in Algiers, connecting Bab El Oued to El Biar, Champs de Manœuvre to El Mouradia, Grande Poste to El Biar, and Ruisseau, Garidi, and Vieux Kouba.
Beyond the capital, cable transport modernization is ongoing, with the Annaba gondola expected to begin operations in June and renovations for the Chréa gondola. Additionally, new lines will be introduced in Bejaïa and Constantine, enhancing urban mobility in these areas.

According to the CEO, the tramway network in the capital will also expand with a new section that directly connects Bordj El Kiffane to Algiers, allowing users to bypass the Bab Ezzouar stations and shorten their travel time by nearly 20 minutes. Through these ambitious projects, Transtev is positioning itself as a vital contributor to the development of Algeria’s transport infrastructure, providing modern solutions that cater to the needs of citizens.
