A Record number of tourist arrivals is noticed in Morocco in the first quarter of 2023. The latest figures show that the North African country attracted 2.9 million tourists in the three-month period between January and March, according to the figures released by the tourism ministry.
It was an increase of 17 percent compared to the first quarter of pre-Covid 2019. Around two million people visited Morocco in February alone. This was a record increase of 464 percent over the same period in 2022. The upward trend in growth is due to arrivals from countries like Spain, Britain, Italy, and the United States. Buoyed by the spurt in arrivals, Morocco launched on 17 March, a new tourism policy that aims to attract 17.5 million tourists and create 200,000 new jobs by 2026. The steps contemplated include revamping tourism infrastructure and toning up market strategies.
