TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania launches solarized service station

  • The solar powered station in the Dar es Salaam city centre is part of the company’s larger strategy to solarise some 5,000 service stations in 57 countries. TotalEnergies Marketing  plans to  install solar panels at 1,000 service stations in accordance with the company’s 2050 ambition of acheiving net zero carbon emission.

The first solarized service station has been launched by TotalEnergies Marketing in Dar es Salaam. The solar powered station in the Dar es Salaam city centre is part of the company’s larger strategy to solarise some 5,000 service stations in 57 countries. TotalEnergies Marketing  plans to  install solar panels at 1,000 service stations in accordance with the company’s 2050 ambition of achieving net zero carbon emission.

Explaining the transformation vision from Total to TotalEnergies, the Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Tanzania, Jean-Francois Schoepp remarked that it was the first Oil Marketing Company in Tanzania to have solarized service stations.

 He said that the Samora service station is the 24th TotalEnergies solarized station in Tanzania. Eleven solar powered stations are already established in the coastal region, six in the Southern Highlands, four in northern highlands and three in the Lake zone. The target of TotalEnergy is to solarize up to 68 service stations by the end of 2022 along itsindustrial sites such as its Dar es Salaam terminal and its Lubricants Oil Blending Plant. The company envisions a production of close to 900 kW of electricity in a full year.
