In its update published this week, the state department of the US government has retained its travel advisory to Kenya. The State Department cautioned its citizens not to travel to Kenya in view of d crime, terrorism, health issues and kidnapping. The first alert was raised by the US Centers for Disease Control(CDC) in March following a rise in the number of COVID 19 cases. In the latest advisory, it has warned that in the current situation, even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading Covid-19 variants and should avoid all travel to Kenya. The CDC has put on red alert Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi and Tanzania also for high Covid-19 cases.
However, It is unlikely that the travel connections between the two countries will be disrupted since air travel has not been banned. Travelers on both sides are required to submit negative test results for arriving on their territories.
A spokesperson from the US Embassy stated that their travel advice is based on facts, and is transparent and accurate. These are monitored regularly and adjusted as per the current situations.
