A delegation from South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC)  will visit Zimbabwe  tomorrow for talks. A few days ago, Harare rebuffed Johannesburg’s offer to help end its neighbor’s economic and political crisis.

The delegation will  hold parleys with the ruling Zimbabwe African National Union Patriotic-Front party and the government,  according to Zimbabwean official sources.

However, the official sources declined to reveal the agenda of the talks. It is likely to be issues like human rights violations and excesses, alleged to have committed by the present government.  Of late, the debt ridden country is the scene of various demonstrations. The economy is also dithering on account of high inflation,  absence of an official currency to transact business and reportedly high corruption.

Zimbabwe’s state-owned Sunday Mail newspaper reported that Ace Magashule, the ANC’s Secretary-General would lead the 10-member South African delegation. The world is keenly watching the course and tenor of discussions. It is still not clear whether the South African delegation would meet the opposition parties’ representatives. The delegation that visited last time had a meeting with representatives of the opposition leaders, which did not go well with the President, who reportedly rebuked them (delegation members) when they called on him.
